Hey Austin families, all children are invited to participate in our Kids’ Imagination Project! Simply download a postcard and have your child create a postcard around the theme, “I Imagine Austin …” Write your child’s first name and age on the back of the postcard and mail it to: Geraldine Smythe, Abrakadoodle-Austin, 1801 Tracy Miller Lane, Cedar Park, TX 78613. (If you would like your child's card returned to you, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope.)
Art Alliance Austin has partnered with Abrakadoodle Art Education to bring a very special gift to the Austin school community. The partnership has formed to provide free art education services to area schools and 10,000 students, who are participating in a community-wide art collaboration and exchange project this spring. And the kids’ art creations through KIP™ (Kids’Imagination Project) will become part of the Art City Austin Festival for 2010!
Children at area elementary schools are creating post cards during free on-site school workshop. Their art finishes the sentence: “I IMAGINE AUSTIN…” Each postcard will be strung together and displayed as a community voice: “TOGETHER WE IMAGINE”.
The display will be shown in the 2 nd street district during Art Week Austin April 21 st – 25 th .
Part of the display will then migrate to the Kids Activity Area on site at the Festival on April 24 th and 25 th , 2010.
After the Festival, judges will choose the top five post cards from each grade and the winning postcards will be exhibited as the 2010 “Together We Imagine” Winners.
Art Alliance Austin and Abrakadoodle believe in the importance of art and community. This is why our two organizations have come together to extend $50,000 worth of art services to Austin elementary aged kids for free during a time of wide-spread budget cuts for the arts!
This interactive art experience and children’s postcard exchange will keep the arts alive AND connect people from all over the city.
Come join the Austin community as we celebrate your child’s creative collaboration!
