Art Alliance Austin has for the second consecutive year partnered with Abrakadoodle Art Education to bring a very special gift to the Austin school community. The partnership has generously granted free art education services to approximately 10,000 students at area schools, including them in a community-wide art collaboration and exchange project this spring. The project, KIP™ (Kids’ Imagination Project) has become part of the Art City Austin Festival for 2011!
Children at area elementary schools are creating post cards during free on-site school workshops. Their art finishes the sentence: “ART MAKES AUSTIN…” Each postcard will be strung together and displayed as a community voice “ART MAKES THE CITY!”
The display will be showcased during the Art City Austin Festival April 2nd and 3rd 2011. Downtown Austin is decreeing Art Month, which will span from April 2nd to May 11th. The KIP display will also be shown during the month of April throughout downtown Austin.
Art Alliance Austin and Abrakadoodle believe in the importance of art and community. This is why our two organizations have come together to extend $50,000 worth of art services to Austin elementary aged kids for free during a time of wide-spread budget cuts for the arts!
This interactive art experience and children’s postcard exchange will keep the arts alive AND connect people from all over the city.
Come join the Austin community as we celebrate your child’s creative collaboration!
