Kids’ Imagination Project: Keep the Art Coming!

Children show off their creativity through postcard art

Abrakadoodle art education is receiving children’s art from around the globe as part of its Kids’ Imagination Project – a global creativity campaign to celebrate originality and to raise awareness for the importance of encouraging children to use their imaginations. The art top left was produced by Beatriz, age 13 of Portugal!

Whether children create art in a school or at home, the important thing is that they have the freedom to express themselves through the visual arts. The imaginative creation below was made by Mariana, age 12 of Northern Virginia, USA.

Any child can participate in Abrakadoodle’s Kids’ Imagination Project!  Learn more about KIP and/or a download a postcard.

Abrakadoodle Celebrates “Lights On Afterschool”

Abrakadoodle students at locations nationwide participated in Lights on Afterschool, an annual national event hosted by the Afterschool Alliance, by launching the Kids’ Imagination Project (KIP) at many locations. KIP is Abrakadoodle’s global creativity campaign that celebrates and encourages children to use their imaginations to create art.

Lights On in Los Angeles! Young children in Abrakadoodle’s ongoing Mini Doodlers afterschool program at Joslyn Park in Santa Monica produced creative postcard art. Photographs courtesy of Abrakadoodle teacher Wendy Brooks.

The Lights are always On in Farmington, Minnesota! Abrakadoodle after school art students in Farmington produced original creations based upon American painter and printmaker Mary Cassatt and discovered the joy of mono-printing!

After school programs are a great way to extend children’s learning and keep them safe after the school day is done. “Abrakadoodle provides a great choice for savvy parents looking for high quality art classes that can help children develop essential right brain competencies and a true sense of creativity.” ~ Dan Pink, Author, “A Whole New Mind”

Presidential Proclamation Makes Strong Case for Arts Education

President Barack Obama issued a proclamation in honor of National Arts and Humanities Month for October 2009. An excerpt: “Every American deserves an opportunity to study, understand, and contribute to the arts and humanities. This must begin in our schools, where children may have their first and most important exposure to these disciplines. Working on their own masterpieces and finding inspiration in the work of others, young people are opened to new means of expression that sharpen their creative faculties. An education in music, dance, drama, design and fine art reinforces skills in fields like math and science, and it can help students reach their full potential. In an ever-changing world, we must prepare our students with the knowledge, creative skills, and an ability to innovate so they can compete and succeed on a global stage.”
